Dear Band Alumni and Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join our Bobcat Band Alumni Association.  YOU have been a vital part of the success of our band.  I believe that our band program is a reflection of the students that have marched through the ranks of the band and the parents that have spent many hours working in the concession stands.

It is my understanding that this elite group will unite to celebrate our many band achievements and to reflect on many “times” of our past.  We will send out a newsletter to share some band history and to promote more interest and support of our band program.  We will also celebrate a major milestone of the Bobcat Band as we recognize the achievements of the band at our 60th year celebration.

I graduated from Hallsville in 1970 and had the honor of being in the first Bobcat Band to receive a 1st division rating at the UIL Marching Contest in 1966.   In 1971, the Bobcat Band received their very first Sweepstakes Award.  In 1974, I came back to Hallsville as a band director and have been teaching here for the past 35 years.  I can say without a doubt that the Bobcat Band has made a difference in my life.  In fact, it has been my life for over 42 years.

I ask you to reflect back over your time with the Bobcat Band and ask yourself if it made a difference in your life.  If it was an important part of your high school days, please take the time to let us know.  Join us in this new endeavor as we begin our “Band Alumni & Friends Association.”

Musically Yours,

Sherri Morgan, Band Director
